The National Council for Special Education (NCSE), through the Public Appointments Service, seeks applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of: Specialist Lead for the Education of Children/Students who are Blind/Visually Impaired or Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
The successful candidate will be required to provide professional leadership to visiting teachers to develop their practice in line with NCSE strategic policies. The operational and administrative aspects of the service are managed under a regional operational structure and do not form part of the remit of the Specialist Lead, but this may change over time. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and a successful track record in leading staff at a senior level.
Candidates should hold a teaching qualification, a relevant postgraduate qualification in the area of visual or hearing impairment, full registration with the Teaching Council or be eligible to apply for full registration before appointment to the role and have experience of delivering services to children who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Blind/Visually Impaired in an educational context.
The initial appointment to the position will be to an NCSE Office in Dublin.
